Surfrider Foundation’s Ocean Friendly | Michelin Bib Gourmand | Santa Barbara, CA

Bettina sits in Montecito Country Mart, and is a well-loved neighborhood pizzeria started by Rachel Greenspan and Brendan Smith. They first met at Roberta’s in Brooklyn and now bring a California touch to classic Neapolitan pizza. Since opening in 2018, Bettina has won a Michelin Bib Gourmand for its inviting food and strong support of local farmers.

The Sustainability Print:

Bettina has been part of the Surfrider Foundation’s Ocean Friendly Restaurants program since 2019. This means the restaurant follows strict environmental rules to help protect the California coast.

Zero Styrofoam:

No expanded polystyrene is used in any operations.

Reusable Focus:

On-site dining utilizes only reusable foodware (plates, silverware, and glassware).

Plastic-Free Takeout:

No plastic bags are offered for to-go orders, and single-use utensils are provided only upon specific request.

Smart Straws:

Paper straws are available only on request, and the restaurant has moved away from selling beverages in plastic bottles.

The Sourdough Foundation:

All pizza and bread dough is 100% naturally leavened (sourdough) and made with organic, sustainably-milled flour from Central Milling.

Their mozzarella is hand-pulled daily, and they source from a prestigious list of local and domestic vendors:
