Walnut Creek, CA
Sipeos brings new energy to Walnut Creek’s Broadway Plaza as the Bay Area’s first vegetarian Mediterranean restaurant and bar. Local couple Dhruma and Hetal Shah, who previously launched a successful non-alcoholic e-commerce brand, opened Sipeos in late 2024 to make dining out more inclusive. The restaurant offers a health-focused setting, with natural wood and terrazzo creating a welcoming space where everyone can join in the celebration.
The Sustainability Print:
Sipeos follows a “Wellness First” approach, focusing on both personal health and care for the environment. Their fully vegetarian, plant-based menu helps lower the land and water use compared to traditional meat-heavy diets. The restaurant’s inclusive spirit also shows in their bar, which features zero-proof and low-alcohol cocktails. By using botanical spirits, salt-based syrups, and bitters instead of sugary juices, they reduce the health and environmental impact of alcohol production and encourage a more thoughtful way to socialize.
A Study in Sourcing: The Mediterranean-California Hybrid
Sipeos combines traditional Mediterranean methods with Northern California’s organic standards, making clean eating feel like a celebration.
Sipeos is a leader in the “Inclusive Dining” movement. By proving that a sophisticated, modern aesthetic can coexist with a strictly vegetarian and alcohol-optional menu, the Shahs have created a blueprint for the modern social space. Recognized as Best Vegetarian Restaurant in the 2025 Best of the East Bay by Diablo Magazine, and named one of the East Bay’s Most Beautiful Restaurants, Sipeos demonstrates that celebration and wellness are not mutually exclusive. It is a destination where the sober-curious and the eco-conscious find common ground over shared plates of whipped feta and fermented chili oil.
